How to use Gemini or ChatGPT to see your living room or bedroom with other colours, furniture or styles from a photo, step by step, with official requirements and limits.
Seeing your living room with sage-green walls or a different sofa no longer takes design skills: a photo and an AI that edits images is enough. The result is for inspiration and decisions, not a building plan.
With Gemini
According to the official Gemini help:
- Go to gemini.google.com (or the app) signed in.
- Upload the photo of the room and type what you want to change.
- To tweak an image you already created, open it from Library, click Conversation and type the change.
Google says image editing is not available to users under 18 and that you can upload several images to combine them (for example, your living room and a photo of a piece of furniture you like).
With ChatGPT
According to OpenAI Help, ChatGPT Images is available on all tiers, on web, iOS and Android. You can upload an image and describe the changes, or use the selection tool to mark just one area (the wall, the lamp). OpenAI warns that highlights are not always precise and edits may extend beyond the selected area.

Limits and privacy
- It is not a plan: the AI may invent sizes, windows or sockets. Measure before buying anything.

Do I need to pay?
