Plan a trip with AI without nasty surprises
How to use ChatGPT or Gemini to build a realistic itinerary, packing list and budget, checking entry requirements and safety advice at official sources.
AI is brilliant at turning “I want to go to Lisbon” into a day-by-day plan in a minute. What it doesn’t do well is know today’s museum opening hours.
1. Tell it how you travel
Dates, budget, pace, who’s going (kids, older people, reduced mobility) and what doesn’t interest you.
2. Itinerary and packing
Use the template below. Then ask for a packing list based on the forecast and activities.
3. Check what changes
Times, prices, closures and bookings: on each official website. Chatbots can be wrong; a search tool with sources like Perplexity helps find the link, but the official site has the last word.
4. Before leaving Spain
- Travel advice from the Spanish Foreign Ministry: safety and entry requirements by country.
- Travellers’ Register: so you can be located in an emergency.
Frequently asked questions
Can I trust the opening times and prices AI gives?
Not without checking. Models can give outdated or invented data; confirm on each place’s official website.
What documents do I need to travel abroad?
Check your government’s official travel advice (in Spain, the Foreign Ministry’s Recomendaciones de viaje, with entry requirements by country). Don’t use a chatbot as the source.
