ChatGPT Memory: turn it on, review it and delete it
What ChatGPT remembers, where to manage memory, how to correct or fully delete it and how to chat without memory.
With Memory on, ChatGPT remembers preferences and details. Manage it in Settings > Personalization > Memory; ask it what it remembers; correct the summary or use ••• > Delete and turn off memory.
To fully remove something, delete it from every source: saved memory/summary, the chat (incl. archived), Library files, connected apps. Deleting a chat doesn’t delete a memory made from it.
Turning off Reference chat history schedules derived information for deletion within 30 days. For no memory, use a temporary chat set to Unpersonalized. See ChatGPT privacy.
