Open source
Software whose source code is public and can be read, modified and shared under its licence. In AI people also talk about “open weights”: models you can download and run.
Where you’ll see it
In GitHub repositories and project sites that publish their code under licences such as Apache 2.0 or MIT.
Common mistake
Confusing “open source” with “free and unconditional”. Read the licence: some restrict commercial use.
