NotebookLM is now called Gemini Notebook
Google renames its tool for researching with your own documents. It’s still free, old links still work and it now integrates with the Gemini app.
What happened
On 16 July 2026 Google announced that NotebookLM is now called Gemini Notebook. According to Google, it remains a standalone product focused on research and learning with your documents, but it will do more across Google: notebooks can already be opened and created from the Gemini app, with syncing, and Google says they’re coming to AI Mode in Search.
What changes for you
- Nothing to do: according to Google Workspace, automatic redirects keep existing notebooks and links working. The new name and logo are rolling out gradually.
- New for paid plans: each notebook can use a secure cloud computer that writes and runs code to analyse data from your sources. It started with Google AI Ultra and, according to Google, is coming to Pro users on the web.
